Coast2Coast Day82+4: Today would have been Dad’s 99th birthday!; Thank You’s
Today (31AUG) would have been Dad’s 99th birthday, a fitting day to note some Thank You’s.
Thanks to Adventure Cycling (Amy, Nathan, Beth, Juliette) for maps, routing and other support. You are professionals!
For all of you that have been following, and encouraging, thank you! Even when I might have been on the road alone, it never felt that way.
For all of the folks we have met along the way, thank you for your interest and sharing some of yourselves. Getting to know something of you, and what you are about, has brought us much joy!
For those who have shared some miles along the way, the times were precious! Tom from Bend, our first encounter with someone riding our way! For Mike, Chris, Pat and Owen, Tom and Anna, Veronika, Ben, Phil Sr., Abe, and Sam, you made the miles melt away. For the L2RC team, and the hard work of Bev and Threase, this year’s RAGBRAI was special!
For Steve, Deanna, and Stefanie, thanks for joining us for our mid-journey respite, with ice cream and fireflies!
Thank you to my sisters (Carm and Mel) and brother-in-law (Steve) for hosting our stop outside of Cleveland, the comfort food, and encouragement!
Thanks to Steve and Michelle for hosting us at their Riverhouse (in Lyons Falls, NY). The ’romantic’ power outage, and just missing the Woodsmen’s Days in Booneville, were highlights!
For Chris and Bob, whom we met in Oregon, camped and dined with all across the country, thank you and safe travels! Your jovial exchanges and shared experiences will be forever remembered.
For those who were essential in helping us get started and continuing our journey, Sean and Sherri, Darren, and the professional bike shops and mechanics!
Very special, immense thanks to Melissa and Daniel. The two of you stepped up and ‘tolerated’ many hundreds of miles of conversations, weather, road conditions AND I can’t thank you enough for being great companions on the roads/trails/flat tires/constructions/wrong turns/poor route choices/…. We can’t imagine what the journey would have been like without you!
AND Cathy, my Love, thank you for making it all happen seemingly too easily!
